FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY! After many years of planning, my journey to explore black history, art, culture, and experiences is beginning. Before my 50th birthday I plan to travel around the country to gain a deeper appreciation of history forgotten, unknown, not acknowledged, and magical. My first stop is the Greenwood Historical District in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is home of what was known as Black Wall Street. Until a race massacre in 1921, this was one of the most affluent African American communities in America. .
As an entrepreneur, former City Manager, and social innovator, I am easily fascinated by conversations around economic and community development. So there is no better place for me to start this journey. .
I have no idea where this journey will take me physically, emotionally, spiritually, or mentally. I’ll occasionally chronicle the journey on JustKimOnline.com. You can also follow #JustKimTravels on Instagram.
