I met Mr. Morrell during my tour of the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church & Parsonage Museum. During the tour of the parsonage, he casually added that he was around during “that time.” Well “that time” was the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and he served as a driver in the carpool system. Our tour director added that Mr. Morrell, who was touring with the rest of us, is a civil rights activist and allowed him to open the door to the parsonage.
I love elders and can listen to them tell stories forever. It’s a blessing. I met so many people during the first left of my tour that were on the right side of history. I’m full and grateful.
